School boards approve BOCES 2024-25 budget

Component school district boards of education unanimously approved a $4.05 million HFM BOCES administrative budget, 15-0, for the 2024-25 school year on Wednesday, April 24.

Component school districts do not vote on the overall BOCES budget, only the administrative portion. The proposed administrative budget called for a 3.1% increase over the 2023-24 administrative budget, a total increase of $121,978.

In other news, three board members were also elected to serve on the HFM BOCES Board of Education. Re-elected were Matthew Sullivan and Rebecca Cozzocrea. Vanessa DiNitto, who was nominated by the Mayfield Central School District, was also elected to her first term.

DiNitto has served on the Mayfield Central School board for nearly six years and is the current vice president. All candidates were elected by school board members of the HFM component school districts and will serve three year terms beginning July 1, 2024.

Earlier this year it was announced that board member Carmen Caraco would not seek re-election. Caraco has served as a member of the HFM board for seven years.
