Harry Brooks called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Kathryn  Zajicek and unanimously carried to waive the 48-hour notice and approve the agenda as presented and add or remove any items introduced by unanimous vote.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Kathryn Zajicek made a motion, seconded by John DeValve and approve the minutes of the July 27, 2022 Board meeting.  This motion was unanimously carried.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education hereby approves the August 31 , 2022 Memorandum of Agreement by and Between Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery Counties Board Of Cooperative Educational Services and The School Related Professionals Unit and authorized the District Superintendent to execute said MOA  (SY 22-23 #25)

ITEMS TO BE DECLARES SALVAGE

Carmen Caraco made a motion to approve the item for salvage listed on the Chief Financial Officer’s memorandum dated August 9, 2022.  This motion was seconded by John DeValve and unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #29)

SPECIAL EDUCATION DONATION – HOSPITAL BED

Kathryn Zajicek made a motion, seconded by Carmen Caraco and unanimously carried to accept the donation of a hospital bed to Special Education’s Educational Life Skills Class at McNab with appreciation to donor Martha Sweet.  (SY 22-23 #30)

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Kathryn Zajicek and unanimously carried to accept the following grant funds, and authorize their suitable appropriation and expenditure, pursuant to State Education Department and/or local approvals:

SCHOOL LUNCH POINT OF SALE CHANGE ACCOUNT

Kathryn Zajicek made a motion to approve HFM  BOCES to issue Tracey Buley a check in the amount of $100.00 to be used for the 2022-23 school lunch point of sale drawer.  This motion was seconded by John DeValve and unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #33)

SHARED SERVICES AGREEMENT – CANAJOHARIE CSD

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Carmen Caraco and unanimously carried to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the Shared Services Agreement by and between HFM BOCES and the Canajoharie Central School District for the 2022-23 school year.  (SY 22-23 #34)

INDUSTRIAL UI SERVICES POA

John DeValve made a motion to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the Department of Labor Power of Attorney authorizing UI Services to represent HFM BOCES in all unemployment insurance matters.  This motion was seconded by Kathryn Zajicek and unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #35)

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR SERVICES AGREEMENT – PERRY DEWEY

Kathryn Zajicek made a motion to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the Independent Contractor Services Agreement by and between HFM BOCES and Perry Dewey III to service as an executive coach and mentor to BOCES identified school building and/or school district from September 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.  This motion was seconded by John DeValve and unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #36)

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR SERVICES AGREEMENT – ANNE NJOVU

Kathryn Zajicek made a motion to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the Independent Contractor Services Agreement by and between HFM BOCES and Anne Njovu to prepare and facilitate lead evaluator training effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.  This motion was seconded by John DeValve and unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #37)

LIVING RESOURCES CORPORATION AGREEMENT

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Carmen Caraco and unanimously carried to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the Agreement by and between HFM BOCES and Living Resources Corporation to provide American Sign Language-English interpreting services.  (SY 22-23 #38)

OTHER BUSINESS HFM BOCES DISTRICT WIDE SAFETY PLAN

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Kathryn Zajicek to accept the updated HFM BOCES District-Wide School Safety Plan.  This motion was unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #39)

REVISED POLICY

Carmen Caraco made a motion, seconded by Kathryn #4705 Reserve Funds Zajicek and unanimously carried to accept revised First Reading policy #4705 Reserve Funds as a first reading. (SY 22-23 #40)

DELETE POLICY #4303 – Reserve Funds

Kathryn Zajicek made a motion to delete policy #4303 – Reserve Funds.  This motion was seconded by John DeValve and unanimously carried.  (SY 22-23 #41)

BOARD MEMBER REPORTS AND COMMENTS

Carmen Caraco discussed how CTE is a great path for students that are not right for college. Dr. Brooks mentioned that financial report refresher would be helpful to the new Board members.
