HFM Career & Technical Education (CTE) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, June 9, hosting its first-ever “Signing Day” event to recognize students who have committed to employment after graduation.
Similar to traditional signing days for student-athletes and college decision celebrations, the event brought together a group of seniors at the HFM CTE Center to mark their transition from school to the workforce. Students signed letters of commitment to local employers in front of family members, CTE staff, and representatives from area businesses.
The ceremony, hosted by Principal Michael DiMezza, highlighted the importance of career readiness and partnerships with local businesses.
DiMezza said the event was a meaningful moment for both students and the program.
“This is a great moment for our students and for our program. These students have put in the time, built their skills, and today they’re taking the next step into the workforce,” said DiMezza. “We’re proud to celebrate their success and the partnerships that helped make it possible.”
Administrative Coordinator Michael Ott said the event shows just how prepared CTE students are to enter the workforce.
“This is a great opportunity to recognize the hard work these students have put in and the skills they’ve developed through their programs. They’re leaving here ready to step into the workforce, and that says a lot about their commitment and the strength of our programs,” said Ott.
DiMezza said he hopes to make Signing Day an annual tradition.
