HFM BOCES Community Schools Coordinator Tom Ciaccio received the HFM Prevention Council’s Community Health Award at the organization’s annual Breakfast of Champions held at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown on Oct. 27.
According to the Prevention Council, the award honors individuals who have dedicated time and effort to improving the health and well-being of others in their communities.
Ciaccio joined HFM BOCES in 2025, bringing with him more than three decades of experience in public education, including nine years as superintendent of the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District. In his current role, he works to strengthen partnerships between school districts and community organizations, helping connect students and families with health, wellness and social service resources throughout the HFM region.
Throughout his career, Ciaccio has remained committed to supporting students and families through education, collaboration and community engagement.
While honored by the recognition, Ciaccio pointed to the collective effort behind the work.
“The mission of supporting the students and families within our HFM region is a shared responsibility,” he said. “There are many organizations and individuals that work every day to that end. Being a partner and helping school districts take advantage of these outside resources is important work. I truly appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it.”
HFM BOCES Deputy Superintendent Dr. Aaron Bochniak said the recognition is a testament to Ciaccio’s dedication to students, families, and communities throughout the region.
“Tom understands that supporting students means supporting the families and communities around them,” Bochniak said. “He brings people together, listens to their needs and helps turn those conversations into practical support. This award is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and the relationships he has built throughout his career.”
