Nora Meyer is a Media Arts and Digital Technology student who’s excited to attend SUNY New Paltz and major in Art Education this fall. Her time spent interning in the art department at the Mayfield Central School District was just what she needed as she prepares for the future ahead.
“My mom is a digital arts teacher in the area and I plan to stay close to home to teach,” said Nora. “I’m really happy to make connections at local school districts.”

At Mayfield Nora helped teachers clean and organize their supplies, learned about lesson planning, and most importantly, talked with students of all ages about their art, offering helpful solutions and a fresh perspective on their work.
“It was nice to see the different teaching styles and work with different age groups,” said Nora. “In every class there was at least one student who was really excited to talk to me about their artwork and was happy with the advice I gave them.”
Elementary art teacher Josette Pastore was glad to have Nora in her classroom and recognized what an important step this was in building a future in the field.
“There’s nothing like being a teacher and you really have to do it to know it, I love that these students get to see first-hand what it’s like,” said Pastor. “And Nora is very mature, she handles being in the classroom well. We had great conversations about the possibilities ahead.”
