The Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES Board of Education has appointed Michael Ott as the organization’s new Career & Technical Education (CTE) Administrative Coordinator.

Ott was officially named to the position during a special business meeting held on Sept. 2. He began his new role on Oct. 3

“I am humbled and honored to be able to serve in this position,” said Ott. “As a teacher I have seen the positive and lasting impact that the Career and Technical Center has had on many of my former students as they are now happily employed or pursuing their college degree. I am excited to work with such a dedicated staff as we all work to help students pursue their own path to a successful future.”

In his new role, Ott will oversee a range of responsibilities including student engagement, leading the CTE attendance committee, managing program approvals, and helping to develop new and emerging CTE programs tailored to the needs of the HFM region.

Michael DiMezza, the HFM BOCES Director of Workforce Development and CTE, spoke about the value Ott brings to the team.

“Mike is a dynamic educator whose passion for student success and deep understanding of learning make him an exceptional addition to our team. His experience and leadership abilities will help us strengthen our programs and expand opportunities for all students across the region,” said DiMezza.

Ott joins HFM CTE after having served as a Special Education teacher for the past 16 years, most recently at Broadalbin-Perth High School and previously in Washington, DC. His leadership roles have included serving as the Secondary Special Education Department Chair and co-directing the junior/senior high school drama club.

A graduate of Broadalbin-Perth High School, Ott earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication and Education from Cornell University, followed by a master’s degree in Special Education from George Mason University. He also holds an Advanced Graduate Certificate in School Building Leadership from the University at Albany.

Looking ahead, Ott said he is eager to connect with the students and contribute to the learning environment at the Career & Technical Center.

“I hope to continue to foster an environment where all students feel supported and have the freedom and opportunity to pursue their post-high school dreams.”

Ott resides in Perth and enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, and theatre.
