Remote learning plan

The following plan is in place for remote learning both for students participating in the hybrid schedule and those who are fully remote.

  • Whenever a student is learning from home, they are expected to be available during regular school hours, 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Students will follow the PTECH class schedule below.
  • Monday through Thursday, students should expect live instruction for all classes, with the following exceptions:
    • PE will generally not include live instruction.
    • Teachers will announce in advance if they will not be holding live instruction on certain days and instructions for an assignment will be posted instead.
    • Study halls will be independent time.
  • Links for video classes will be posted in Schoology. Usually, they will be listed under “Materials” for each course.  This is the first page that opens up when students go to a particular course
  • On Fridays, there will not be live instruction. Instead, assignments will be posted that students will work on individually. Teachers will be available to help as needed, including through video chat.  Students should reach out to teachers directly on Schoology if they need help or have questions.  Unless otherwise noted, Friday assignments will be due by 2:15 p.m. in order for students to be counted “present” for remote learning.

Resources for parents

Parents and guardians can access their student’s class information using the following online tools:

SchoolTool

SchoolTool Parent Portal is available to parents and students to access attendance records, progress reports and report cards. Parents are linked to SchoolTool each year via a working parent email. Parents receive a password to access the parent portal in their email.

SchoolTool can be accessed here.

Schoology

PTECH teachers use Schoology, an online learning management system, to communicate between teacher and student, teacher and parent, and teacher to teacher. Schoology will also be used to help manage projects and digital resources.

Schoology allows you to:

  • Access all courses
  • View assignments
  • Check missing or overdue assignments
  • See grades

Parent accounts are established each year and are connected to their student.

To access your parent account:

  1. Go to www.schoology.com
  2. Click Sign Up at the top of the page and choose Parent.
  3. Enter your Parent Access Code. This is a 12-digit code in xxxx-xxxx-xxxx format that you receive from the school
