CALL TO ORDER

President Brooks called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Jean LaPorta and unanimously carried to approve the agenda as presented and add any items introduced by unanimous vote.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein to approve the minutes of the June 24, 2020 Regular Board Meeting; June 30, 2020 Special Board Meeting; July 1, 2020 Reorganizational Meeting and the July 29, 2020 Goal Setting and Special Board meeting.  This motion was carried unanimously.

PERSONNEL ITEMS

Upon the District Superintendent’s recommendation, the following personnel items  were presented to the Board for acceptance or approval. All new appointments are contingent upon receipt of Employment Eligibility Verification form.

Resignation for Retirement

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein and unanimously carried to accept the following employee’s letter of intent to retire:

1. Robert Gallup, Position: School Bus Attendant, Division: Regional Transportation (02/26/2015), Effective Date: 09/04/2020 (SY 20-2 #64)

Resignations

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein and unanimously carried to accept the following resignations:

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein and unanimously carried to approve the following all other appointments:

a. Recommend the Board approve the appointments and re-appointments of staff listed below for the 2020-21 school year, with effective dates as noted. Employees are not eligible for benefits (health, dental, vision, long term disability and life insurance).

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein and unanimously carried to amend the following appointment:

Somelofske, Shelby –  Amending her appointment from a Special Education Teacher to a Long-term Substitute effective September 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.  Salary: $105.00 per day.

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein and unanimously carried to approve the following miscellaneous personnel items: Memorandum of Agreement between Hamilton, Fulton and Montgomery Counties BOCES and the HFM Administrator’s Association  (SY 20-21 #78)

CLAIMS AUDITOR REPORT

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by Jean LaPorta, and unanimously carried to approve the Claims Auditor Report for the period of June 30, 2020 through July 28, 2020. (SY 20-21 #80)

TREASURER’S REPORT

James Beirlein made a motion, seconded by John DeValve, and unanimously carried to  approve the Treasurer’s Report from June 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020 as submitted.  (SY 20-21 #81)

EXTRACLASS REPORT

Carmen Caraco made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein and unanimously carried to approve the June 2020 Extraclass report as submitted. (SY 20-21 #82)

2019-2020 EXTRA CLASS REPORT SUMMARY – Information Only

The 2019-2020 Extra Class Report Summary was provided to the Board for information only. (SY 20-21 #83)

UNITED CONCIERGE MEDICINE

Allan Turnbull made a motion, seconded by Gustavo Sacerio and unanimously carried to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the United Concierge Medicine agreement to provide telemedicine services to employees effective July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. (SY  20-21 #84)

FULTON-MONTGOMERY REGIONAL CHAMBER OF  COMMERCE – CTE AGREEMENT

John DeValve made a motion, seconded by James Beirlein to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the Contract for Administration of Career and Technical Education – Business and Education Partnership by and between HFM BOCES and the Fulton-Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce effective September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2021.  This motion was unanimously carried. SREB CONTRACT

James Beirlein made a motion to authorize the District Superintendent to execute the contract by and between HFM BOCES and the Southern Regional Education Board/Schools that Work to implement the Schools that Work school improvement design effective July 1, 2020 through June 30. 2021. This motion was seconded by Allan Turnbull and unanimously carried. (SY  20-21 #86)

2020-21 SCHOOL LUNCH PRICING

Carmen Caraco made a motion, seconded by John DeValve and unanimously carried to establish the 2020-21 school year breakfast and lunch prices as follows; adult milk at $0.75, adult breakfast at $2.70, adult lunch at $4.35 and student milk (a la carte) at $0.50. HFM BOCES is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program which allows us the ability to feed the students for free. (SY 20-21 #87)

SUBSTITUTE REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE (SCHOOL) RATE OF PAY

Jean LaPorta made a motion to increase the Substitute Registered Professional Nurse (School) rate of pay to $125.00 per day effective August 22, 2020.  This motion was seconded by Carmen Caraco and unanimously carried. (SY 20-21 #88)

BOARD MEMBER REPORTS AND COMMENTS

Jean LaPorta commented on how well the organization has been able to handle pandemic complications as they arise.  James Beirlein commented on how the re-organization of the leadership team has made the team stronger.

NYSSBA ANNUAL CONVENTION

The Board Clerk asked the Board to let her know by September 13, 2020 if they would like to attend the virtual Annual NYSSBA Convention.

With no further business to come before the Board, Allan Turnbull made a motion at 6:10 p.m. to adjourn the meeting.  This motion was seconded by Jean LaPorta and unanimously carried.
