HFM BOCES 2020-21 HSA contributions are as follows:
- Individual – $1,000 (Two distributions – $333.33 on 7/1/20; $666.67 on 10/16/20)
- Individual & Spouse, Employee & Child(ren) & Family – $2,000 (Two distributions – $666.67on 7/1/20; $1,333.33 on 10/16/20)
The Empire BlueCross Blue Access High Deductible EPO has an annual deductible that resets on 7/1/20. The deductible for the 2020-21 school year is $2,000 for Individual coverage and $4,000 for Individual & Spouse, Employee & Child(ren) and Family.
Although your HSA funds may be utilized for numerous medically-related services, remember only those that are covered by the Empire BlueCross Blue Access High Deductible EPO will be applied to your annual deductible accumulation.
Example: Tim has a balance due of $500 for dental services provided on 7/10/18. He pays the bill with funds from his HSA. This is a legitimate utilization of HSA funds. However, the $500 expense will not be applied to his annual deductible, as it is not a benefit covered by the health plan. Going forward, Tim must remember that this $500 was not applied to his deductible and he is still responsible for meeting the deductible amount applicable to his plan.
