“Financial Literacy”

FMCC received a large grant to create and disperse materials and programming.  They worked with Amsterdam, Johnstown and Gloversville.

A website has been created thru FMCC.  It includes a Power Point presentation with an overview that can be used with classes.  Each of 4 sections has video as well.  There is also lesson plan material in Excel and Google Sheets and a glossary.  There are lots of good links and lesson plans by age (High School, Elementary) along with assessments.

FMCC faculty is available for presentations.

FMCC has lots of Public Relations materials.

You can get to the site through the FMCC College site.

Smartmoney.fmcc.edu

This will continue beyond the grant time.  Some of the topics are: credit, investments, etc.

Library Automation Update – Edie Willcox

We will be looking into a new circulation system again next year.  We will be asking for input on making choices like we did for Scholar and Horizon.

“College in the High School” has expanded a lot!  There are many high schools participating.

MVLS Update – Eric Trahan

There is a new electronic resource “Bean Stack” which is a way for kids to keep track of what they read and get recommendations.  You need to establish an account first.

2016-2017 Budget – Deb Booth

Specific numbers for the budget were presented.  It reflects a 4% increase.

SLS Evaluation – Edie Willcox

Most liked the workshops offered.  They also liked the communication between SLMS.

Thanks for the input on future workshops.  It looks like what’s wanted is more of the same – well known presenters, Polly and best practices.

Common Core is making differences in how things are done but less is happening with collaboration.

There is more use of the union catalog for ILL.

ILL ranked up there with database buys.  The winner was the courier service.

Thank you for such thoughtful input on services wanted, how we can help and what workshops you’d like to see.  They were the best replies yet!

Annual Report – Deb Booth

There was a motion to accept the Annual Report as presented made by Megan Hallenbeck.  The motion was seconded by Carla Bengle-Mackey.  The Annual Report was unanimously approved.
