18A. Describe two goals you have for next year for your professional development
Learn more of the system.
To have more of a working knowledge of the standards to better collaborate with teachers.
Include digital citizenship in with all elementary technology/library classes
Keep up with new standards; going to workshops.
To get through the fall so I can retire in December
Virtual Field Trips, Video Editing
Unpacking the new AASL standards, becoming a Google Certified Level 1 trainer
NA
To get more students to read and to improve the school website
Learn more about coding – learn more resources to use for research with younger grades.
Focus!!! Too much multitasking – Continue taking the opportunities offered.
Working on the new AASL standards – Learning about LibGuides
18B. Describe two goals you have for next year for your media center
Formalize the makerspace and start program for student tech helpers/makers
Reorganize the library after summer carpet replacement
More weeding and rearranging
To successfully hand over the reins to someone else as I will be retiring.
Collection development of non-fiction, chrome base integration
Create permanent makerspace location; add official library student helpers/leaders.
Set up biography, multiple book, and fiction sections in the mail part of the library since these sections will be moved from the back of the library; to incorporate more technology into library lessons like the zspace machines and virtual reality headsets.
More collaboration with other teachers. Continue promoting the 21st century library (which is NOT the 20th century library many adults are stuck on.
19. How can the School Library System help you achieve these goals?
Continue to communicate staff development opportunities in our area networks.
Workshops.
Not sure right now.
Offer workshops on using this type of technology or new technology in library lessons.
PD, other offerings like databases, journals, etc.
20. Which System provided service was of greatest benefit to you this year?
Unknown
Database buys, courier services & PD opportunities
Interlibrary loan and Instructional Resource Center
Courier service and Edie
The courier service
Courier service, magazine borrowing from HFM
Fall makerspace with the robots and letting us play before we try it with the kids
Interlibrary Loan (X 2)
Workshops
Horizon
The people!!!! You are all essential for our success
21. If you could add one service to the System’s offerings for next year, what would it be?
Not sure
Courier service every Monday
Easier method of accessing IRC library – I find it cumbersome to locate right now so usually just call but I think this may hold others back from enjoying and searching the delights in IRC
Electronic interlibrary loan
Courier every day. I know that’s not possible but it’s still what I would wish for.
It would be useful to promote NYLA/SSL. Offer to pay one of our librarians to attend the conference in the spring.
22. What program/service is most in need of improvement? How?
Web Reporter/report making abilities.
Horizon reports – please let the update over the summer fix this.
Interlibrary Loan – not everyone participates and that weakens its effectiveness for everyone.
Horizon ipac is not user friendly and with that I mean easy for the students to use.
23. Additional comments:
We need to revisit an ebook platform. One that has an app.
