Visit HFM PTECH

With students engaged in group project work using cutting-edge technology in the innovation spaces (our classrooms), the Learning Commons and other workspaces throughout the day, the culture and activity at HFM PTECH looks much different than most schools.

Students and staff enjoy sharing about the environment here and invite educators, businesspeople, government leaders and others to visit.

We offer visitation sessions at our Jansen Avenue location in Johnstown, NY, on the second Wednesday of the month during the school year.

Please note, these sessions are not geared toward prospective students and their parents. All students who apply will visit and spend time at PTECH during the interview portion of the application process. If a student would like to shadow for a day prior to applying, please check with your guidance counselor, and a date can be coordinated for a visit.

If you are unable to attend on one of the available dates, you may request a special date, and we will make every effort to accommodate.

Each session begins at 9 a.m. and is approximately 2 hours in length. It includes a tour led by a student ambassador, an overview of standards based grading and project based learning with our instructional coach and principal, an overview with our business mentor/partner coordinator and some classroom observation time.

For those who desire a longer visit (through the school day), we can make arrangements for you to have lunch with students and teachers, followed by additional classroom observation time.

Visitors are required to register for a particular session by completing the registration form.

We don’t want to keep our successful practices or the lessons we’ve learned since launching the school in 2014 a secret, so we look forward to accommodating group and individual visits.
