Nicole Walrath

Tell us a little about your background.Nicole Walrath

I grew up in Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and lived there for most of my life, until I moved to Broadalbin seven years ago. I have my bachelor’s degree in Business and Technology Management from SUNY Delhi. Before coming to the Chamber, I worked for the Naval Support Activity Saratoga Springs at the commissary.

What exactly does your job entail?

I am the director of workforce development at the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce. The chamber and HFM BOCES have an agreement in which the Chamber is the sole conduit between education and business. I’m in the schools full-time, assisting teachers with projects including guest speakers, guest judges. I also provide real-world experiences for students including workplace tours, job shadowing, and internships. What do you like best about your job?

The best part is that I can help provide real-world opportunities for students, and I’m able to see them become successful in the career they are passionate about.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I enjoy boating on the Great Sacandaga Lake, riding on the Harley and camping. I love being outside as much as possible.

If you were able to talk to your 15-year-old self about life, careers and happiness, what advice would you give?

Do what makes you happy! “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”—Confucius
