Kayleigh Denney

Physical Education/Health Teacher

Tell us a little about your background. 

I grew up in Glenville, New York. I have a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Coaching from Roberts Wesleyan College. I am currently working on completing my masters degree from NYU.

What inspired you to become a teacher? What do you find rewarding about this job?

I chose teaching as a profession because I have had great teachers in the past who have changed my life in a positive way. I wanted to have the opportunity to do the same thing for other students. I enjoy learning and interacting with the students the most. They are all unique in their own ways and have a lot to offer the world.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

Some of my interests outside of work include hiking, playing soccer, running, farming, and spending time with my family.

If you were able to talk to your 15-year-old self about life, careers and happiness, what advice would you give?

If I was able to talk to my 15-year-old self about life, careers and happiness, I would say to choose a career that is going to bring you happiness and enjoy the moment. I was always looking forward to the next thing and wanted to be done with my education. I wish I was able to enjoy the present moment more during high school.
