Tell us a little about your background.

I am originally from Utica, NY, but grew up mostly in upstate New York near Plattsburgh. I have a bachelor’s degree in Drama and Speech Communications from SUNY Potsdam, and a bachelor’s in English from SUNY Plattsburgh. I have a Masters in Teaching from Empire State College. I have also worked as an actor, a dog trainer, and a teaching assistant.

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I have worked in teaching positions throughout my various careers. When I began my work as a teaching assistant, I fell in love with teaching itself and realized that helping students find a love of English and literature was what I wanted to do.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and playing board games.

If you were able to talk to your 15-year-old self about life, careers and happiness, what advice would you give?

My advice would be, to try my best in school. I would tell myself to enjoy my time with my family, and to try all the new things that I could to find the things that really made me happy.
