In her own words

From what do you draw inspiration in your life/teaching career?

I often draw inspiration from the amazing people around me. We have a
phenomenal teaching team at PTECH, and we continually inspire each other to become even better at our craft. I am also always inspired by my students, because they always come up with exciting and innovative ideas.

Why did you choose teaching, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I chose teaching because I think there is no better job in the world than to be able to help students grow into the people they want to become. I enjoy having the pleasure of witnessing the transformation students make as they flourish into confident, talented young adults.

Why teach at PTECH?

I started to realize the structure of traditional school no longer meets the needs of all 21st century students or the needs of our 21st century society. I was inspired by the innovative thinking at PTECH in re-imagining what schools can be. I love that the PTECH model helps students make direct connections between what they are learning and
how they will use it later as successful members of our society. I love the supportive, collaborative culture that has been created at PTECH. In our school community, we collaborate with each other, support each other, and we aren’t afraid to try new things.

What are some of your interests outside of work?

I love outdoor activities, especially gardening, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing and boating on the Great Sacandaga. I am almost finished climbing the 46 Adirondack High Peaks. I live in Johnstown with my husband and our daughter.
