Early CTE

The Early CTE program at HFM BOCES provides students in grades 9 and 10 with opportunities to explore careers through hands-on, immersive learning experiences. Students complete two half-year courses—Introduction to Construction and Introduction to Healthcare and Human Services—allowing them to investigate multiple career pathways and discover areas that align with their interests and abilities.

Throughout the program, students will learn from local industry professionals, visit businesses and worksites, and participate in authentic career-based learning experiences. They will develop technical knowledge and employability skills that will help them make informed decisions about their future education, training, and career goals.

Program Objectives:

  • Identify and evaluate their strengths, interests, aptitudes, and areas for growth as they relate to potential career opportunities.
  • Explore a variety of careers within the construction, healthcare, and human services fields.
  • Use their experiences to establish informed educational, career, and postsecondary goals.
  • Participate in real-world learning experiences that build introductory technical skills and workplace readiness.
  • Grow as young professionals by developing employability skills such as communication, reflection, flexibility, collaboration, and responsibility.
  • Prepare for their future goal of becoming enrolled, employed, and/or enlisted after graduation.
