Superintendent Search Timeline

March 31: The HFM BOCES Board began working with Capital Region BOCES District Superintendent & CEO Lauren J. Gemmill on a plan for conducting the search to replace retiring District Superintendent & CEO David Ziskin.

April 20 – May 15: Online survey for stakeholders open. The brief, anonymous survey seeked input about what characteristics and skills are desired of the next district superintendent. The survey was for all members of the HFM BOCES community including staff, faculty and students.

May 11: Focus Groups with stakeholders. Was open to leadership, students, faculty and staff.

June: Board reviews feedback, outlines preferred qualities of a new district superintendent

June 1: Application is posted and due July 10, 2026

July-August: Candidate interviews with the Board (multiple rounds)

September: Finalist interview with the Commissioner of Education

October: The HFM BOCES Board is aiming to announce the new district superintendent in the fall. Any selected candidate must first successfully interview with the Commissioner of Education.
