Emergency 911 Call Procedure

RATIONALE: All 911 calls must be verified after they are made. This is to ensure the validity of the 911 call before responders arrive on-site, and to ensure that internal BOCES resources are mobilized as appropriate and proper steps are taken to contain the emergency.

  • After making a 911 call, have a staff person immediately call extension 4600 to confirm that an emergency has occurred and to state the nature and extent of that emergency. Additionally, please contact Operations at 4380 and the District Superintendent’s Office at 4300.
  • If the emergency is a Medical Emergency, also notify the school nurse’s office 4656. If the Medical Emergency is not local (more than one room) or large scale (involving serious injuries/illnesses or injuries/illnesses involving more than one individual), you must implement the HFM BOCES Incident Command System by notifying one of the Commanders (David Ziskin, Aaron Bochniak or Jay DeTraglia.)
