Thirty six participate in blood drive

April 10, 2017 | Filed in Archive

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Red Cross Blood Drive held at HFM BOCES Monday, April 10. Thirty six individuals, mostly students and staff, participated in the drive providing 25 productive units of blood.

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. That means that more than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day. The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 pints and a single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood.

Red Cross phlebotomist Makaylah Woodward prepares to draw a blood donation from HFM BOCES Criminal Justice student Kelsi Whipple, a junior from Fonda-Fultonville.
