The HFM BOCES Central Administration has an immediate opening for a purchasing agent.
This is a Civil Service classified confidential/managerial 12-month position that serves under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer.
The successful candidate will be hired provisionally and will be required to take the appropriate Civil Service exam with the Fulton County Department of Civil Service and be reachable on the Civil Service list.
Areas of essential knowledge and experience include but are not limited to:
- Administering purchasing policies and procedures
- Supervising and directing central purchasing operations
- Managing the competitive bidding process
- Overseeing the computerized purchasing system and inventory records
- Work is performed under administrative supervision with leeway provided for use of independent professional judgment
Minimum Qualifications are:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree or higher in either purchasing, accounting, business, or public administration, economics, or closely related field AND one (1) year of experience in large scale purchasing of a variety of commodities, which included supervision; OR
(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college with an associate degree in either accounting, business administration, economics, or closely related field, AND three (3) years of experience as described in (A) above; OR
(C) Graduation from high school, possession of a high school equivalency diploma, or a high school individual education plan diploma AND five (5) years of experience as described in (A) above; OR
(D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined in (A) and (B) above.
