Cybersecurity & Computer Technology

A students hearing earphones works at a computer station.HFM’s Cybersecurity & Computer Technology program includes two courses: Information Technology (IT) Essentials and CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

IT Essentials

The IT Essentials course is divided into two sections. The first covers core competencies in the latest hardware and software technologies, with emphasis on information security skills, safety and environmental issues, and 21st Century Skills. It is aligned with the CompTIA A+ essentials exam.

The second part is hands-on and lab-based. This section covers all the CompTIA A+ Practical Application objectives for the certification exam. The areas covered include: IT Technician, Remote Support Technician, and Bench Technician.

Students completing the full course will be prepared to take all exams associated with the new updated CompTIA A+ certification.

CISCO Certified Network Associate

The CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA – Exploration Level) course curriculum emphasizes the use of decision-making and problem-solving techniques to resolve networking issues.

CCNA students learn how to install and configure Cisco switches and routers in local and wide-area networks using various protocols, how to provide Level 1 trouble-shooting service, and how to improve network performance and security. The CCNA curriculum provides training in the proper care, maintenance, and use of networking software tools and equipment.

Elements of Course Content:
  • CCNA 1 – Networking Fundamentals
  • CCNA 2 – Routing Protocols and Concepts
  • CCNA 3 – LAN Switching and Wireless
  • CCNA 4 – Accessing the WAN

The CCNA coursework prepares students for CCNA certification, which may be taken as a single comprehensive exam or as two exams.  View additional information on the CISCO website.
