New fingerprinting process affects prospective school district employees/substitutes

fingerprintAUG. 5, 2015 – The New York State Education Department and HFM BOCES are no longer processing fingerprint applications, requiring prospective school district employees to schedule for fingerprinting at change, effective July 1, 2015, affects any new hires through HFM BOCES Substitute Services.

Once logged on to, scroll down to “Let’s get started” where you will be able to select a location and make an appointment for fingerprinting.

When asked to provide the ORI Number required for the process, enter the word TEACH (this ensures that your fingerprint results are sent to NYSED).

Follow all instructions and make payment as necessary. The total fingerprint fee is $102.

New York State law requires applicants for certification and prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and BOCES to undergo a fingerprint supported criminal history background check conducted by the New York State Education Department’s Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA).
