Annual honor recognizes the person who best exemplifies the mission and vision of HFM BOCES
JULY 9, 2014 – Each year since 1996, the HFM Board of Education has selected one name from a list of nominees to receive the HFM BOCES Service Award, created to recognize dedication and commitment to advancing the mission of BOCES.
Career & Technical Education Director Jay DeTraglia was named as the 2014 recipient of the award at HFM BOCES’ closing day activities on Thursday, June 28.
Detraglia’s nomination was an organized campaign by the members of the career and technical divisions.
“Jay DeTraglia is one of the most dedicated administrators that I have worked for during my 26 year career in education,” Work Study Coordinator/Teacher Martin Luey wrote in his nomination of DeTraglia.
Most comments cited professionalism, tireless work ethic and innovative thinking as hallmarks of DeTraglia’s management style.
“With the unexpected loss of two members of the CTC faculty, this has proven to be a very challenging year for Jay. He has always maintained a professional and positive attitude giving all the staff under his charge confidence and guidance to continue to strive to be the best educators we can be,” Equine Science instructor Robert Boshart wrote.
Previous recipients of the Service Award are Deborah Booth, Glenn Marcucio, Cynthia Fratianni, Anita Gaffney, Patricia Maderic, Jean Papa, Peter Raneri, Thomas Flynn, Helen Neet, Helena Kilgore, Linda Newton, Elaine Mongin, Martin Luey and Sally Fancher.
Anyone may nominate an HFM BOCES administrator, teacher or member of the staff for the service award. Completed forms must be submitted to the HFM BOCES Clerk of the Board, 2755 State Highway 67, Johnstown, NY 12095, no later than February 2, 2015.
