David C. Edwards, who served nearly four decades on the HFM BOCES Board of
Education, and was the board president for the last several years, passed away Friday, June 30. He was 87.
Mr. Edwards was first elected to the HFM board in 1980. He had served as board president since 2013, and served as vice president for many years as well. He was also a member of the Mayfield Central School District Board of Education for 12 years.
“For nearly as long as there’s been a BOCES in our region, David Edwards was a part of it,” HFM BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel said. “His contribution and commitment to education in our area had a positive impact on the lives of countless students, and on our community as a whole. He will be greatly missed.”
In addition to his service in education, Mr. Edwards was also a former Johnstown councilman and town supervisor, and was an active member of the Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Department for more than 60 years.
