HFM BOCES launches new website

Website homepageVisiting hfmboces.org lately will reveal exciting new changes to HFM BOCES’ website. A completely new look and feel replaces the previous 10-year-old site, offering easy access to a wealth of information for parents, students, community members and HFM staff.

“When we talk all the time about innovation and technology infusing the classroom, we had better take a close look at how we use technology ourselves,” HFM BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel said. “Our new ‘online campus’ reflects our commitment to innovative thinking and excellent communication skills, traits we want to pass along to our students and partners.”

The new design incorporates a responsive layout that will adapt to different device being used. Smart phones, tablets and desktop computers using multiple web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari) will get the optimal viewing experience with easy reading and navigation.

The website broadens the audience base for HFM, creating specific content for parents and students, the component school districts and the HFM staff. As new content is developed, HFM expect to offer a rich resource of helpful information to all its stakeholders.

The familiar information and resources from the old site has been refreshed on the new pages, with the addition of simple navigation, robust search capabilities and integrated social media connectivity. A new superintendent’s blog built into the site allows Dr. Michel and other school leaders to offer commentary on current school issues and opportunities facing HFM schools.

“We want to start conversations and grow relationships with all our audiences. None of us, from the students and teachers, to the community businesses and area college, can thrive in an individual silo. Connection and collaboration are our key words going forward,” Dr. Michel said.

New features being developed for the website include HFM Voices, videos and interviews of present and past students, teachers and staff talking about the impact of HFM BOCES on their career pathway. A dedicated section describing HFM’s partnerships with area businesses, the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Fulton-Montgomery Community College is also being developed.

Included on the website:

  • Board of Education information
  • Calendar of events
  • Contact information for HFM BOCES staff
  • Descriptions of all HFM programs and services
  • Directions
  • Employment opportunities
  • News Staff resources
  • State assessment and exam schedules Substitute Services information

The new design was in development for nearly two years, and was created in cooperation with Capital Region BOCES Communication Service.
