Gloversville to reopen search for superintendent

December 20, 2017 | Filed in Archive

Unable to reach a consensus regarding a finalist, the Gloversville Enlarged School District Board of Education will reopen its search for a new superintendent of schools in March. Current Interim Superintendent Robert DeLilli will remain with the district until the end of the school year.

The GESD Board of Education met Tuesday to discuss the three finalists that had been selected and interviewed earlier this month, but were unable to agree on a top choice. The candidates were Dr. Mario Fernandez, the current assistant superintendent for school improvement in the Poughkeepsie City School District; Wilford LeForestier Jr., the current assistant superintendent for special education in the Kingston City School District; and Steven Schloicka, Gloversville’s current assistant superintendent.

DeLilli has been serving as interim Gloversville superintendent since July following the departure of former superintendent Michael Vanyo, who left the district to take the superintendent’s position in the Ichabod Crane Central School District.
