food boxesHFM BOCES’ Teacher Association’s PR Committee has provided holiday food baskets to families in need in the HFM family for more than 10 years. The helpful tradition continues this December and your generosity can help provide comfort to families in our communities.

Donations of money or food can be made before Friday, Dec. 16, to Karen Edwards Boulevard Elementary School. Checks should be made out to HFM BOCES TA and designated “holiday food basket” in the memo line.

Students from Cheryl Ostrowski’s class will shop for food to supplement donated items, and then students in HFM BOCES classes at Gloversville Middle School will to help put the baskets together as part of a learning and service project. Baskets will be assembled and distributed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 19 – 20, 2016.

Lynn Brown, PR Chairperson also reaches out to HFM BOCES classroom teachers to encourage students to get involved in food drives to ensure enough supplies exist to help everyone on the list. Any extra collected food is donated to a local food pantry.

Each food basket will contain a “main meal” made up of a 12-15 pound turkey, 10 pounds of potatoes, five pounds of carrots, stuffing and brownies. Additional food includes cereal, peanut butter and jelly, bread, saltine crackers, pancake mix and syrup, rice, soup/ramen noodles, pasta and sauce, canned veggies and fruit.

Any questions may be addressed to Lynn Brown at ebrown@hfmboces.org or Karen Edwards at kedwards@hfmboces.org or 775-5740.
