HFM BOCES welcomes new staff
2013-14 school year opens with more than 70 new faces at HFM
SEPTEMBER 3, 2013 - Administrators,
teachers, technology professionals, support staff were among
more than 70 new employees welcomed to HFM BOCES for the 2013-14
school year. District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel
announced the organization’s most recent hires at the annual
BOCES-wide Opening Day activities on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
“In today’s educational environment with fiscal constraints and
added accountability, school districts are looking to regional
services more than ever,” Dr. Michel said. “Our staffing at
BOCES reflects the service demand from our districts and ensures
we can fully meet their needs, and ultimately the needs of our
hires in the Special Education Department include: teachers
Kaitlyn Gerke, Sarah Lajeunesse, Cynthia Lee, Freida Nellis, and
Jennifer Olsen (long-term sub, filling a teacher position),
Elizabeth Bauer (speech), Erin Drobnack (occupational
therapist), Amy Esposito (teacher of the deaf), and Melissa
Hesler (speech); aides Lorraine Fisher, Desiree Kocjan, Laura
Liechti, Brittany Marcellus, and Jamie Sedal. Also joining the
Special Education Department is Assistant Job Training
Specialist Chris Schuttig and senior typist Carla Cristaldi.
Career and Technical Education
Joining the Career and Technical Education program are: Emily
Lawlor, science teacher; Theresa Carr, Apprenticeship teacher;
Eileen Casey, LPN instructor; Joseph Cirillo, long-term teacher
aide sub; Tiena Kline, account clerk typist; Craig Newkirk,
Environmental Conservation teacher; Adam Cancio, Environmental
Conservation teacher; and Erika Bucenec, New Visions Health
Michael DiMezza joined the CTC as Administrative Coordinator
mid-way through the 2012-13 school year, and was officially
English teachers Marie Krohn and Joshua Wyan join the
Alternative Education program along with Kelly O’Brien (literacy
coach) and mathematics teacher Timothy LeMere. Lee Shaver,
formerly HFM BOCES’ Network Administrator, was appointed
principal of the Alternative High School over the summer.

Itinerants joining HFM for 2013-14 are: Dawn Barrett (speech and
hearing), Shelly Curley (English as a second language), Kayla
Geelan (RTTT and math), Laurita Broady and John Lomanto
(assistant food service managers) Teal Carpenter and Darla
Sandford, (food service managers), Tina Avery (central food
service typist), and Charles Goebel (physical education).
Joining the new transportation department are: Christopher Olson
(transportation assistant), Douglas Clute (automotive mechanic),
and Nancy Hohenforst (typist).
