Parent/Teacher conferences set for Alternative HS
Strengthening the home-school connection help improve
student success
OCT 30, 2012 - Richard Riccio, interim
principal of HFM BOCES Alternative High School, believes that
one of the most important keys to his students’ success is the
communication between the school and home. That’s why he wants
all parents or guardians to schedule a parent-teacher conference
on Wednesday, Nov. 14 or Thursday, Nov. 15.
“This year we are asking parents and guardians to schedule an
appointment to ensure that all the teachers who work with their
teen can meet with them,” Riccio said. “We want to inform
parents and encourage them to be involved in their child’s
progress.”
Appointments may be scheduled from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov.
14 or from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. First quarter report
cards will be handed out at the conferences.
Multiple research studies over the past 30 years have
overwhelmingly concluded that involved parents help improve not
only a student's academic achievement, but their motivation and
attitude toward school. Parents may call (518) 736-4321 to
schedule a conference.
