Vendor fair offers look at local assessment options
HFM
BOCES Network Team will host a local assessment vendor fair for
teachers, principals and superintendents from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m.
on Thursday, Oct. 27 at HFM BOCES conference center.
Local student assessments make up 20 percent of teachers' Annual
Professional Performance Review score under standards brought
about by the Race to the Top initiative.
Understanding each student’s academic level gives teachers the
power to help them excel. Computerized adaptive assessments are
the tools that make it possible – providing educators with the
detailed information they need to build curriculum and meet
their students’ needs, one child at a time.
Visitors to the fair will examine materials and question
representatives from six companies that market assessment
programs - Renaissance Learning, Pearson, McGraw Hill, Riverside
Publishing, NWEA and iReady.
Visitors will be encouraged to complete a feedback form that the
local assessment committee will consult to determine which
vendors and assessments get a closer look. These vendors will be
invited to deliver formal presentations for the committee, from
which the ultimate choice will be made.
The event is free and registration is not required.
Questions about the vendor fair may be directed to Network Team
Administrator Lee Shaver at (518) 736-4681, ext. 4339.
