Martin Luey
recipient of 2011 Service Award
Annual honor recognizes the person who best exemplifies the
mission and vision of HFM BOCES
SEPTEMBER

- Each year since 1996, the HFM Board of Education has
selected one name from a list of nominees to receive the HFM
BOCES Service Award, created to recognize dedication and
commitment to advancing the mission of BOCES. Alternative
High School Work Study Coordinator Martin Luey was named as
the 2011 recipient of the award at HFM BOCES' opening day
activities on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Mr. Luey has been with HFM BOCES since 1990, coaching
students through structured school-work experiences and
helping them prepare for their future after high school.
Prior to that, Mr. Luey taught in the Broadalbin-Perth
Central School District.
He was nominated for his dedication, energy and optimistic
attitude. His nomination specifically noted that Mr. Luey
"always makes time to listen to his students, mentoring them
in positive directions." He was commended for maintaining
close relationships with the area employers who partner with
BOCES to provide work opportunities for students.

Anyone may nominate an HFM BOCES administrator, teacher or
member of the staff for the service award. Completed forms
must be submitted to the HFM BOCES Clerk of the Board, 2755
State Highway 67, Johnstown, NY 12095, no later than January
21, 2012. |
