Regulating
district taps into reserve funds to pay delinquent tax bills
Broadalbin-Perth, Mayfield and Northville set to receive $2
million in back taxes
Aug.
10, 2011 - The Hudson River Black River Regulating District
Board of Directors approved a plan Tuesday to use more than $3
million in reserve funds to pay delinquent taxes to Fulton
County.
The Schenectady Gazette reported on Tuesday Aug. 9 that the
regulating district's board voted 5-1 to liquidate funds to
satisfy a June 23 court decision requiring them to pay the back
taxes within 30 days.
The regulating district owes Broadalbin-Perth, Mayfield and
Northville school districts $2 million in back taxes, and $1.4
million to Fulton County. According to the article, the
regulating district will pay the more than $3 million to only
the county, which will then disburse the appropriate amounts to
each school district. |
