HFM BOCES
community mourns loss of Josie Watts
SEPT.
6, 2011 - For Josephine "Josie" Watts, her 24-year
tenure on the HFM BOCES Board of Education was a "privilege
to have the opportunity to appoint some of the best
directors, teachers and other instructors" in local
education.
Mrs. Watts died Monday, September 5.
When she retired from the HFM Board in June 2008, Mrs. Watts
deflected any praise and recognition to the staff at BOCES.
"Everyone doesn't get the flowers they deserve," Mrs. Watts
noted, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the
Special Education clerical workers, business office
employees, and staff of the Substitute Calling Services. She
also asked for a special round of applause for the teachers
and staff of the HFM BOCES Alternative High School.
A retired secretary and former school bus driver, Mrs. Watts
also served 11 years on the Gloversville Enlarged School
District Board of Education.
Calling hours will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday,
Sept. 8, at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111
County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street) in
Johnstown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
Sept. 9, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect
Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be
made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral
home. |
