Collaborative workshops help area educators prepare for new
evaluation systems
Evidence-based observation and student learning
objectives the topics of free workshops
HFM BOCES, in collaboration with The Greater Capital Region
Teacher Center, is offering two free opportunities for area
teachers and principals to learn more about evidence-based
observation and Student Learning Objectives(SLO). Both are key
components of the New York State teacher evaluation system.
The
SLO Interactive Workshop takes place at HFM BOCES from 8:30
a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25.
The daylong event is led by facilitators from Community Training
and Assistance Center (CTAC), who have been collaborating with
the New York State Education Department’s Network Teams to
develop a deeper understanding of the construction of Student
Learning Objectives and how SLOs will be used as part of the
state's Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) process.
Demonstrating Our Effectiveness: Evidence Based Observation for
Teachers is a two-day workshop on Tuesday-Wednesday, June 26-27,
at HFM BOCES.
Facilitators from Teaching Learning Solutions will lead the
interactive exploration of evidence-based observation—what it
is, what teachers can expect, the structure of NYS Teaching
Standards, and how to use a teaching practice rubric based on
those standards.
Both workshops are free and registration is limited.
