Join the conversation: 'Education Speaks' blog launches
New blog devoted to thoughtful discussion, smart solutions to
major issues in public education
Early
in October, the Capital Region BOCES Communications Service
launched "Education Speaks," a new blog devoted to a thoughtful
discussion of the issues shaping public education in New York’s
Greater Capital Region and beyond.
Broadalbin-Perth Superintendent Stephen Tomlinson posted a
commentary recently in a blog titled Solutions, Not Excuses.

“It's important to advance a deeper understanding of education
issues among the families and business leaders in our
communities, and to help move the conversation forward toward
new and creative solutions to the challenges facing our public
schools,” said HFM BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patrick
Michel.
The mission of Education Speaks is to work toward smart
solutions to education’s biggest problems. Guest bloggers
include leaders of our public schools — rural, urban and
suburban alike — sharing insights on the issues people in their
schools and communities care deeply about. Guest bloggers are
backed by an editorial team from the Communications Service that
helps moderate content and keep a constructive conversation
going.
"Too often, multiple interests not associated with the
educational field express opinions and viewpoints that quickly
become mainstream beliefs," said Capital Region BOCES District
Superintendent Charles Dedrick. "The blog is a regionalized
approach that gives school leaders a platform to talk about the
real-world implications of issues such as the tax-cap, common
core standards, APPR and other matters that impact our public
schools."
Education Speaks allows school leaders to speak with genuine
authority about the issues shaping our public schools.
