Searches commence for new superintendents
Canajoharie and Johnstown enlist Dr. Michel to help find new
district leaders
HFM BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel will
coordinate the search for new school superintendents for the
Greater Johnstown School District and Canajoharie Central School
District. The Boards of Education in both communities are
launching efforts to replace long-time district leaders. Ms.
Kathleen Sullivan in Johnstown and Richard Rose in Canajoharie
recently announced their plans to retire after the 2010-11
school year.
Search brochures and online information about the openings are
available for Johnstown
and Canajoharie on the
HFM BOCES website. The comprehensive search will also include
online and print advertising through the New York State School
Boards Association magazine, OnBoard, as well as through the
On-Line Application System for Educators (OLAS) that serves more
than 300 school districts in several regions of New York State.
The BOCES District Superintendent traditionally coordinates such
search efforts, guiding school boards in the development of
professional qualifications that meet district needs, and
helping to facilitate the evaluation and interview process.
Its really in our best interest to find the most suitable
candidate for these positions, Dr. Michel said. We all end up
working very closely together every day.
