Welcoming
reception set for new district superintendent
HFM
BOCES will host a welcoming reception for new District
Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel from 3-5 p.m. on Monday, Feb.
7, 2011 in the HFM BOCES campus cafeteria.
The HFM BOCES Board of
Education invites members of the community and component school
districts to join with the HFM BOCES community in welcoming Dr.
Michel as he assumes the district superintendent role.
A brief program of
remarks by school and community leaders is scheduled to begin at
3:45 p.m.
Prior to his
appointment to HFM BOCES, Dr. Michel's educational experiences
included serving as superintendent of Monticello Central School
District, associate superintendent at Clarkstown Central School
District, and as principals in Hyde Park and Pine Bush.
Throughout his career,
Dr. Michel has served on the boards of the YMCA, Boys and Girls
Clubs, and Boy Scout Council within Sullivan and Orange
Counties. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattan
College, Masters degrees from Brooklyn College and Columbia
University, and a Doctor of Education degree from Columbia
University.
Dr. Michel replaces
former HFM BOCES District Superintendent Geoffrey H. Davis, who
died April 1, 2010 following a battle with cancer. Assistant
Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Hohenforst has been serving as chief
operating officer since April.
