LPN program
pre-admission tests scheduled First test date
set for Tuesday, Feb. 8
Students who want to enter the HFM BOCES’ Licensed Practical
Nursing Program will have several opportunities to take the
required pre-entrance TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)
during the months of February, March and April. The TEAS
measures basic math, science, reading, English, and language
usage skills. It is used to identify the applicant's strengths
and weaknesses in the academic skills needed to successfully
complete the nursing program and begin a satisfying career in
the medical profession.
The next available test date is 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011
at HFM BOCES. Other test dates are listed here.
The web-based test takes approximately three hours to complete,
and costs $35, payable online by debit or credit card on the day
of the test. Registration is required, and may be completed by
calling the LPN program at (518) 736-4681, ext. 4969.
Successful test results lead to an admission interview with the
prospective student. Accepted students are required to pay a
$350 deposit to HFM BOCES. Tuition for the program is $4,900 for
the first year, and $5,400 for the second year. Financial aid is
available.
The LPN Program prepares students for rewarding careers in
the field of nursing. The program, registered by the New York
State Education Department, is based upon a minimum of 1,200
clock hours that all students must complete in two school years.
Successful students who complete the LPN program may be eligible
to transfer credit through an articulation agreement to
Fulton-Montgomery Community College’s Registered Nursing (RN)
Program in Johnstown, as wells as help in advanced placement in
other RN programs at Ellis Hospital, Hudson Valley Community
College and others.
