Johnstown Board
of Education announces superintendent finalists
May 31, 2011 –The
Greater Johnstown School District Board of Education has
announced three finalists in its search for a new superintendent
of schools. The superintendent candidates are in the final stage
of the interview process before the BOE makes its decision. The
new Johnstown superintendent will assume his or her
responsibilities on July 1, 2011.
Patricia Kilburn has
been director of curriculum, testing and personnel in the
Greater Johnstown School District since 2008. She previously
served as a music teacher in the Greater Amsterdam School
District while earning her school district administrator
certification.
Mrs. Kilburn has led
many leadership and curriculum enhancing initiatives throughout
her career. She earned her Bachelor’s of Music Education from
the Crane School of Music, State University of New York at
Potsdam. Mrs. Kilburn holds a Master’s of Science in Education
and an Advanced Certificate in Education Administration from the
College of St. Rose.
Kenneth W. Newman,
Sr. is the assistant superintendent for student learning in the
Monticello Central School District. He is the former principal
of William S. Hackett Middle School in Albany, and served as an
assistant principal in the City School District of Schenectady.
Mr. Newman taught
business education in Schenectady’s public schools and at Hudson
Correctional Facility prior to earning his school district
administrator certification. He holds a Bachelor of Science
degree from Siena College and a Master’s in Education from
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA.
Mr. Newman is
currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from
NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Robert DeLilli is
the superintendent of schools in the Gloversville Enlarged
School District. He has served as a school superintendent for
eight years in Gloversville and the Wheelerville Union Free
School District following a 17-year career as a social studies
teacher in Wheelerville.
Mr. DeLilli is a
life-long area resident with broad educational leadership
experience. He serves as the chair of the
Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery Energy Pricing Consortium and vice
chair of the HFM Business Education Alliance. He earned his
Bachelor’s of Science in Education at the State University of
New York at Plattsburgh, and a Master’s in Education from SUNY
Albany.
Mr. DeLilli earned
his school district administration certification through the
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA.
