Adult Literacy offers English as a Second Language class
Morning and evening orientation/screening sessions set for March
2
HFM
BOCES Office of Adult Literacy and Corrections Education will
host two orientation and screening sessions for adults who want
to speak, read, write and understand English better. A morning
screening and orientation will be held 9 a.m. - noon on
Wednesday, March 2, at Centro Civico, 143-145 East Main Street,
Amsterdam. An evening screening and orientation will be held 6-9
p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 42 Guy
Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
Students must arrive on time and be prepared to stay for the
full three hours. The class is open to adults, age 21 and older.
Learners age 18-20 may be admitted based on an interview with
the teacher and as space and funding is available.
During orientation, students will learn about the program,
register for class and participate in assessment. Students must
bring a pen and pencil and a photocopy of a picture ID with
birth date.
Individuals interested in joining the class must call HFM BOCES
at 736-4340 to reserve a seat. Voice mail is available 24 hours
a day. Callers should leave their name, age, address, phone
number and specify the morning or evening ESL orientation. |
