Digital
Multimedia Show opens
'New kind of media' provides high-tech art show
Fifty
students are displaying more than 90 original pieces of art at
the first HFM BOCES Regional Digital Multimedia Show, on display
Friday, April 16, in the HFM BOCES Conference Center. The work
represents the creative output of artists from 10 component
school districts.
The exhibit, which opens Thursday evening at 6 p.m. with a
reception for artists and their families and guests, is a
departure from the typical art show. All of the exhibited work
was created by digital means.
The exhibit was the idea of Digital Multimedia and
Communications instructors Andy Huth and Phil Schuyler. While
the show intends, like any traditional art exhibit, to help
visitors see the world in a different way, it also showcases the
technology and scope of the Digital Multimedia and
Communications program at HFM BOCES.
The show includes examples of illustration, animation, video,
and photography. Several computer monitors help facilitate the
interactive viewing of the video and audio portions of the
exhibit.
The show is an imaginative combination of creative thinking and
technological dexterity that results in an impressive artistic
display. But like the most impressive sunset, it has a brief
life. The show closes at the end of the school day on Friday.
