OLAS provides online application service for educators
Applying for
employment at HFM BOCES has become simpler and more efficient
thanks to OLAS, the secure, On-Line Application System for
educators. Developed by a partnership of BOCES, the service
allows job applicants to view and easily apply to current
vacancies in school districts around New York State.
HFM BOCES joined the
partnership to help facilitate applications for job
opportunities in all its divisions. Candidates are able to apply
to specific positions using one application and/or have an
option of granting all districts access to their application.
The Internet-based application allows BOCES officials to easily
view applicant information, resumes and cover letters. An email
feature makes contact with candidates convenient.
The Internet-based
application serves more than 300 school districts in several
regions of New York State. These school districts are now using
this system as their primary source for filling jobs. The site
provides maps of school district locations and links to
individual district Web sites.
OLAS is accessible
from any computer with Internet access. The online system
provides daily updates of vacancies, and allows candidates to
edit and update their resumes at any time. Jobs posted on OLAS
have the opportunity to be seen by far more potential candidates
than local advertising, attracting a broader pool of qualified
applicants.
Applicants create a
unique user profile with a sign-in and password, and their
information and application remain active for one year. The
VeriSign secured site ensures safe storage of applicants’
information.
