Digital
Multimedia Show seeks student art
Exhibit showcases student creativity and digital technology
Paints
and pencils have been replaced by pixels and digital tablets,
but student creativity still deserves a stage. The HFM BOCES
Career and Technical Center Digital Multimedia Show offers the
opportunity for student artists in grades 7-12 to show off their
digital creations. Work will be displayed on Thursday and
Friday, March 18-19, 2010, in the Career and Technical Center
Conference Room at HFM BOCES.
An opening reception
for artists and their guests will be held on Thursday, March 18,
6-9 p.m. Awards will be presented at that time to the best
entries in each format.
The show is being
mounted by HFM BOCES instructors Andy Huth and Phil Schuyler to
draw attention to the Digital Multimedia and Communications
program. However, any student in grades 7-12 from a HFM BOCES
component school district can enter their digital media in the
show.
Entries must have
been created in the last two years in one of the following
digital formats: photography, composite images, digital
drawings/paintings, video, 2D and 3D animation, fine art, or
original music.
Deadline for
submissions to the show is Monday, Feb. 8, 2010. Students or
teachers interested in submitting work for the show should
contact Andy Huth
ahuth@hfmboces.org (printed work), or Phil Schuyler
pschuyler @hfmboces.org (video and animation) for submission
requirements.
The Digital
Multimedia and Communications program explores a challenging and
fast-paced industry with a wide variety of new employment
options available each year. Students learn the principles of
graphic and video production and design including: typography,
digital and film photography, electronic image editing and basic
3D rendering, advertising, basic news gathering, multimedia
design and production, and basic sound editing.
A wide range of
professional-level computer software is used, and students leave
the program prepared to enter two and four year technical degree
programs in Graphics Communications, Multimedia Design and
Production, and Photography.
