Alternative High School Parent/Teacher conferences reinforce
home-school connections
HFM
BOCES Alternative School Program held their annual
Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 18-19. Designed
to facilitate better teacher-parent communication and
parental involvement, the two days of conferencing
attracted nearly 100 families.
Several area organizations attended the conference to
distribute information about their youth-focused
services. Participating representatives and agencies
included Rececca Manwaring, Director of Project ACTION
Tobacco Free Coalition; Jared Palermo, Youth Gambling
Prevention Coordinator for Catholic Charities of
Fulton/Montgomery Counties; Sarah Kraemer, Program
Coordinator of Reality Check (Catholic Charities of
Fulton/Montgomery Counties) and Bridget Rocco, Tobacco
Free Healthy Schools (Catholic Charities of Fulton/Montgomery
Counties).
"Having the groups from Catholic Charities with us added
alot to the conferences," Alternative high School
Principal Thomas Flynn said. "They are an asset to the
overall effectiveness in working with our at-risk
students."
