Regional summer school offered by HFM BOCES

Eight component districts set to participate in inaugural year

HFM BOCES component school districts will participate in a shared summer school program this July for students in grades 9-12. The program, being hosted by Johnstown High School, is designed to help students that require classes to graduate on time.

Classes, which begin on Wednesday, July 1, will be offered Monday-Thursday in three, two-hour sessions per day. The six-week program will offer courses at all grade levels in English, social studies, math, and science, as well as Health. Regents exams will be administered Aug. 12-14.

Mrs. Christine Pietro, an assistant principal at Amsterdam High School, will serve as principal of the regional summer school. Eight HFM BOCES districts will participate in the inaugural program – Amsterdam, Broadalbin-Perth, Canajoharie, Fort Plain, Gloversville, Johnstown, Northville, and St. Johnsville.

Students may register for summer school in their home districts from June 15-24. A late registration will be held at Johnstown High School on June 29. A student’s eligibility for summer school is based on guidelines established by his or her home district.

Any transportation to Johnstown High School will be provided by the individual school districts, not by BOCES.
