New services
this fall for students with disabilities:
Transition Partnership receives VESID Grant
HFM BOCES, in collaboration with Gloversville, Johnstown,
Broadalbin Perth, Mayfield and Northville Schools, has
created a Model Transition Program to assist students with
disabilities in all five schools as they plan their
transition out of high school. The program has been funded
by VESID and will begin with the new school year.
This program will assist students and their families through
the development of:
• Transition coordination at
each high school through a shared staff position;
• Job development and job
coaching in partnership with the Employment
Resources and the Resource Center for Independent Living.
Partnership with the FMS Workforce Investment Board will
assist with summer employment opportunities for our
students;
• Employment assistance in
partnership with the Private Industry Council;
• Job exploration and
transition preparation in partnership with Employment
Resources; and
• Preparation for
post-secondary education in partnership with Fulton
Montgomery Community College.
