New services this fall for students with disabilities:

Transition Partnership receives VESID Grant

HFM BOCES, in collaboration with Gloversville, Johnstown, Broadalbin Perth, Mayfield and Northville Schools, has created a Model Transition Program to assist students with disabilities in all five schools as they plan their transition out of high school. The program has been funded by VESID and will begin with the new school year.

This program will assist students and their families through the development of:

Transition coordination at each high school through a shared staff position;

Job development and job coaching in partnership with the Employment
Resources and the Resource Center for Independent Living. Partnership with the FMS Workforce Investment Board will assist with summer employment opportunities for our students;

Employment assistance in partnership with the Private Industry Council;

Job exploration and transition preparation in partnership with Employment Resources; and

Preparation for post-secondary education in partnership with Fulton Montgomery Community College.
