Law enforcement personnel, students and
staff are praised for prompt response to bomb threat at HFM
BOCES campus
"This most disruptive crime will not be treated as a prank,"
says Superintendent Dr. Geoffrey H. Davis
HFM BOCES Superintendent Dr. Geoffrey H. Davis praised law
enforcement personnel, students and staff for
their cooperation and prompt response following a telephoned
bomb threat that forced the mid-morning evacuation of the
HFM campus for one hour and 15 minutes on Sept. 25.
HFM BOCES followed the State Education Department mandated
protocol for bomb threats, which requires immediate
evacuation of the facility. Students and
staff were maintained at least 300 feet from the building
while law enforcement personnel from the Montgomery County
Sheriff's Department, Fulton-Montgomery Community College
Security, and New York State Police coordinated an
investigation.
After the building was declared safe by investigators,
students and staff were permitted to re-enter.
Dr. Davis has issued an open letter to the HFM BOCES School
Community.
