Registration
scheduled for GED and ESL classes
Classes are forming soon for both English as a Second Language
as well as Basic Skills and GED preparation. Both new and
returning students are encouraged to enroll in the classes,
which are offered through the HFM BOCES Adult Literacy program.

Basic Skills and GED Preparation classes for NEW students
Classes are designed for working adults as well as adults
seeking employment, age 21 and older.
Enrollment spaces are limited, and new students will only be
accepted at these specified times:
•
Jan. 7 and 9, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Catholic Charities. 1 Kimball Street, Amsterdam.
Classes at this site meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30
a.m.-12:30 p.m.
•
Jan. 7 and 9, 6-9 p.m.
Gloversville Middle School.
Classes at this side meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m.
•
Jan. 7 and 10, 6-9 p.m.
Amsterdam Free Library.
Classes at this site meet Mondays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.
•
Jan. 8 and 10, 9 a.m.-noon
Gloversville Public Library
Classes at this site meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9
a.m.-noon.

Basic Skills and GED Preparation classes for RETURNING students
Former students who have not completed the basic skills and GED
preparation programs are also encouraged to enroll. Former
students return at the following dates and times:

Jan. 22, 9 a.m., Gloversville Free Library
•
Jan. 23, 9:30 a.m., Catholic Charities in Amsterdam
•
Jan. 24, 6 p.m., Amsterdam Free Library
•
Jan. 24, 6 p.m., Gloversville Middle School

The HFM BOCES Office of Adult Literacy also offers a GRASP
Homestudy Program for adults age 21 and older who can not attend
classes because of work-schedule conflicts, transportation
challenges or family responsibilities. For more information,
call 736-4340.
English as a Second Language
Three different levels of English as a Second Language classes
are offered: Basic English, intermediate English and advanced
English. New students must register on either Jan. 14 or 16 at 6
p.m. Classes begin Jan. 23 and end June 16. Classes meet on
Mondays and Wednesdays 6-9 pm. at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Amsterdam.
