HFM
theater students to stage 'Into the Woods'
Curtain goes up at 7 p.m. on
May 17, 18 and 19
A
host of storybook characters will come to life on the
Fulton-Montgomery Community College stage when students in the
HFM BOCES New Visions Theater Arts program perform in Stephen
Sondheim's charming musical "Into the Woods."
HFM's students have been working all year under the
direction of theater arts teacher Anthony Rich. They are sharing
the spotlight with several FMCC students who participated in the
HFM BOCES New Visions Theater Arts program in previous years.
As
a full-length Broadway musical, "Into the Woods" cleverly
intertwines a collection of uncensored versions of 18th century
fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. The result is an original
story of a baker and his wife, and their quest to begin a
family. Look for new interpretations of key characters from
Little Red Ridinghood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and
Cinderella, including an ugly witch, a ravenous wolf, furious
giants, handsome princes and more.
Choreography is by Devan Rowe, while vocal direction has been
provided by Wendy Boltash.
